10 on 10 – Personal Project

When I started this project last month, I thought – SURE, I can take pics ANY day of the month, plan ahead and I’ll be all set for February’s 10.  Guess when I took my pics? Today.:)It’s hard to believe the last month slipped by me so fast.  We spent almost the entire last month with sick kids and threw in a weekend to DC with the kids as well as a trip to NY to see my family. Any of those moments would’ve been perfect to capture 10 images of my day, but alas, I did not.

So here goes – just another average Friday for me.  I started out the day EARLY. Had the alarm set for 5am so I could make it to Excel for the 530am class. Excel just moved into their new space about a month ago and I’m helping Carolee with some promo work for the gym. (Carolee is the one featured here with the smoking abs!) If you aren’t familiar with Excel and want to try it out, let me know – you won’t get a better workout, I promise you! Stopped by Brueggers to pick up some cinnamon sugar bagels for my babies (their favorite) on my way home and realized SHOOT, IT’S THE 10th!!!!  Breakfast with the kiddos, finished up Nathan’s Valentines for school, and then headed back to Excel for my workout.:)And the rest is pretty self explanatory, except for the fact that my 2 year old is NOT napping. AHHH!!  A certain book comes to mind right now…. something about go to sleep… but with a little more finesse. Anyway, if you’ve made it this far, thank you. And welcome to the first 2/3 of my Friday.:-)

You get brownie points for waking up at 5am!
My 2 year old is not napping either. Sucks!

Love these, wow you are right, Carolee does have some rockin abs, I want some. Maybe I need to do more advanced side planks, lol. Enjoyed taking a peak at your Day. :)

Nicole - February 13, 2012 - 10:02 am

My abs have never, WILL never look like that. Maybe next lifetime. :)

10 on 10 – Personal Project

Happy New Year! I’m only 10 days late, but who’s counting.  Honestly, I can’t believe it’s already 1/10/12, let alone a brand new year.  Time seems to be slipping by faster and faster as each year passes so I decided to start a new personal project for 2012 to help me stop time for a bit during an entire day.

10 on 10.

What is it? Well, the goal is to take an image every hour for 10 consecutive hours during an entire day and blog these images on the 10th of the month.  I chose yesterday, an average every day Monday, for my first day to document and it sort of felt like deja vu for me.  When I first got my camera and started learning how to use it creatively, I carried it with me EVERY where I went, snapping pics of anything and everything. Those days are long gone and as I’ve dug deeper into my business, I’ve slacked a bit with taking pics of my kids doing average every day things.  I’ve let my camera collect dust on my shelf in between sessions.  My goal for this project is to get back to my roots, get on the floor with my kids, and have a little bit of fun in the meantime.

Without further ado, here is my average-everyday-Monday. One of the highlights of my day was meeting my  brand new nephew via video chat! Technology is a beautiful thing, isn’t it? Thanks to FaceTime on my iPhone, I was able to video chat with my brother and his brand new 1-day-old baby boy in the hospital in NY.  Amazing, right? What’s even better is that I captured it with my camera…. something I wouldn’t have normally done if I didn’t start this project!! I’m already feeling grateful for this little project and looking forward to next month’s post!!!:-)

Moe - January 10, 2012 - 12:26 pm

Awesome! What a great idea! And I too struggle with taking pictures of the everyday minutiae, but this is the stuff that makes up a life, the stuff that we will look back and wish we captured. So I’m glad you’re doing it, and I need to too.

Nicole - January 10, 2012 - 1:12 pm

What a great start to your project. I just love the photo of V in her crib.

Daniel – Panther Creek Class of 2012 – Cary and Raleigh, NC Senior Portrait Photographer

I admit, I’m a bit behind on blogging some of my clients, including Daniel here, so there will be several posts coming soon to wrap up some of the things I was up to at the end of 2011. I met up with Daniel and the rest of his family last fall for a family/senior portrait session combo.   I really like doing sessions like this for my senior guys – it makes moms happy – not only do they get senior pics of their son, they also get some family images!:-) I will say that I’ve had some really cool, laid back, senior guys who seem to go with the flow and are pretty comfortable in front of the camera, which makes me happy.  And  Dan was no exception – cool guy, plays lacrosse, and has several schools he’s interested in, like USC, Clemson, and Virginia Tech.  Enjoy these last few months of your senior year, Dan!!  Congrats to you and your family!

2011 Year in Review

It’s been a little while since I’ve blogged my client’s sessions and I have several to catch up on shortly after the new year.  I took a brief hiatus to take care of final orders for the year as well as enjoy my family during the holiday season.:-)

I’ve put together a bunch of my favorite images from the last year. 2011 was an incredible year for me and I appreciate each and every one of my clients who’ve allowed me into their lives this year.  I feel so honored and privileged to have met such a wonderful group of people in 2011.  I am so excited for 2012! Happy New Year!!!
