Class of 2010 – Kara

Posted on July 27, 2009

I had the special opportunity to take senior pics of my drop-dead-gorgeous cousin Kara this past summer during my trip to Buffalo for our mini-family reunion.  First of all, I can not believe she is going to be graduating high school in just a few short months.  I can remember babysitting her when she was just days old – how can she possibly be old enough to be driving, and dating, and graduating!?!?!

We had SO much fun that day – starting off with a trip to Lord and Taylor at the Galleria Mall to get her make-up done by our cousin Leigh, who worked at Clinique at the time.  She did such a beautiful job!  Then, we headed over to the Albright Knox Art Gallery to see if we could find a good spot for pics.  I didn’t realize at the time, but the art gallery is the hot spot for wedding photographers in Buffalo, so we really did hit the jackpot!  I should point out that I grew up in Rochester, so even though I know how to get to my familys’ houses, I do NOT know Buffalo, at all!  On our way back home, we drove through some sketchy spots to find these beautiful breakers on the Niagara River that overlooked the Peace Bridge leading to Canada.  Neither of us knew how to get there, so I was happy we found it (with the help of my brother by cell phone)! And to top it all off, we witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets over Lake Erie on our way back!

Such a beautiful day with a beautiful girl!  Congrats Kara!  Only a few more months to go!

My fav! And Kara’s fav too!

For those who don’t know, the Niagara River eventually dumps over the Niagara Falls. It was pretty intense sitting next to that river – it has a pretty fast current!

This sunset shot was taken in the Hoak’s parking lot on Lake Erie.

Sweet Potato Pie – Bluegrass Band

Posted on July 7, 2009

I had the pleasure of assisting my good friend Julia (www.julia-wade.com) on a promo shoot for the local bluegrass band, Sweet Potato Pie.  What an incredibly talented group of women!  As part of our session, we had them play for us so we could capture some more spontaneous moments and they are absolutely amazing!  I’m anxious to see them again during one of their shows.  If you want to learn more about them, check out their site! http://www.sweet-potato-pie.com/

One of my favs of Missy – I love how the sun sneaks through the columns and illuminates her! Plus, her expression is priceless!
